Process Aluminum Blacking

METALBLAK Aluminium Blacking  

 

 Instructions for use

 

  

STEP 1:  METALBLAK ALKALINE DEGREASER (dilute to 50%) Temp >20’C

 

PARTS SHOULD BE AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE, EVEN BEFORE PLACING INTO DEGREASER

 

Load the ‘OIL FREE’ basket, jig or hook (rack) with components and place in tub. Agitate rack periodically, to ensure even contact. Leave for 10-20 minutes, until cleaned (leave longer for heavily soiled parts). Lift rack out and DRAIN WELL to prevent carry-over contamination and product wastage.

 

STEP 2: CLEAN RUNNING WATER

Place rack in rinse tub and leave for one minute, with gentle agitation or aeration. Lift rack out.DRAIN WELL to prevent carry-over.

 

STEP 3: CONDITIONER 451 (diluted 3 parts water to one part product)

Place parts in CONDITIONER TUB and leave to soak for 2 minutes. Agitate rack to ensure even contact with liquid. Colour change should take place and an even grey colour obtained.

 

STEP 4: CLEAN RUNNING WATER (as in step 2) 

 

STEP 5: CONDITIONER ETCH 417 (diluted 9 parts water to one part product)

  Place rack in CONDITIONER ETCH TUB for 30 seconds. Lift rack out and DRAIN   

  WELL to prevent carry-over.

 

STEP 6: CLEAN RUNNING WATER  (as in step 2)

 

Then repeat Step 3 CONDITIONER 451

Then repeat Step 2 CLEAN RUNNING WATER

 

STEP 7: ALUMINIUM BLACK 481 (dilute 3 parts water with one part product) Temp>20C

Place rack in ALUMINIUM BLACK TUB. Soak for 10 seconds, remove and examine for even blacking. Agitate the rack gently to ensure even blacking. Soak for another 

5-50 seconds until blacking is complete (NO LONGER) Lift rack out immediately. DRAIN WELL to prevent carry-over and product wastage.

 

STEP 8: CLEAN RUNNING WATER (as in step 2)

If colour change is patchy, rinse and return to tub 1 for degreasing.

A patchy black is usually due to oil contamination, solution not up to temperature or contaminated rinse water.

 

STEP 9: DEWATER- METALBLAK OIL SEALER (use as supplied)

Place rack in DEWATERING TUB and soak for 10 minutes. Agitate the rack       

periodically to ensure even contact and rotate complicated parts. Lift out rack. DRAIN WELL. 

 

Place on draining board and allow to air dry.
